FAQs

  • I’m new to this, why should I use a recruitment agency?

We always say that just one interview with us can open a hundred doors! We have access to jobs across many industries and have a skill for understanding what industry you’re really suited to. Graduates and trainees are in a unique position – you’re in high demand which is very exciting but means there can be some competition. Using an agency can give you an edge improving your chances of getting a great job that you love! Our team manage the whole process, from the minute you sit down with us for a chat, we can handle everything for and with you – even reviewing your CV and guiding you right through the interview stage up until we know you’re happy and settled into your new position.

  • I don't have any previous work experience, what do I write on my CV?

Highlight education courses you have completed. Employers like to see what education you have completed and any other courses that could highlight your skills. For example, a sports coaching course may not seem like it will be relevant to an office based role but having done the course, you will have shown that you are motivated, can encourage others and work well within a team. Elaborate on any volunteer work. List your volunteer experience as you would any other job with the overall title and a summary of the duties you carried out; highlight skills that you applied to carry out the role, any that you have acquired and any relevant accomplishments. Volunteering whilst you’re looking for a job also demonstrates your interest in the environment around you and your enthusiasm to learn and develop, which leads nicely onto the next point.

  • I’ve written my CV, what’s next?

Writing your first CV can be a challenge and there is lots of help online. After having a chat with you, we will be able to advise you of any changes we think your CV would benefit from and we will write up your introduction profile for each role we apply for on your behalf, so that it reflects who you are and compliments your CV.

  • I have been asked to interview but I feel nervous!

We offer interview coaching and practice, our candidates feel more prepared after having a run through with us. To help you a little bit more we also provide you with lots of information about each company and the culture so you can feel at ease and enjoy the job search!

  • My interview went well but I haven’t heard anything?

The interview and HR processes can take a little while depending on the organisation. You can call your Rowlands Consultant anytime for an update. Often the employer will provide us with an update. Once we have their feedback we will be able to guide you through the best next steps.

  • I am looking for short term or flexible work

Maybe you’ve just finished university and you’re looking to expand your knowledge and skills, maybe you’re saving up for a gap year or further study or you could be on a career break. We know that you might be open to seeing which role or industry is best suited to you and you want to try a few out, we can place you in a temporary or contract role that meets your current requirements, even if they change! Temping while seeking a permanent position is very popular, in fact some temporary assignments can result with an offer of permanent work!
