Last summer saw six excellent graduates and school leavers join Standard Bank’s internship programmes for an eight week placement.
Working across diverse business areas including Marketing, Operations, Project Management, IT and Human Resources, the interns gained an insight into the Bank and were also able to get involved with project work across the business, including charity work and recruitment.
Rowlands were fortunate enough to work with Standard Bank and offer two individuals a place on the scheme. Both praised the programme and gave the following feedback about their experiences:
‘I was so pleased to be chosen for such a great opportunity with my internship at Standard Bank. After just finishing university, I was looking for some experience in the business world and this was perfect. I got exposure to working with internal and external stakeholders, whilst working for a bank with a global presence – a great way to start my career. I was given continuous support throughout the program and got to work on several different projects which saw me learn something new every day. I’m so grateful to both Rowlands and Standard Bank for my opportunity, as I saw a huge increase in my knowledge and even better, my confidence!’ – Business Management Graduate
‘I’ve really enjoyed my internship at Standard Bank! Everyone has been lovely, welcomed me with open arms and have really taken me under their wing. The work itself has been super versatile too and has been really interesting working with both HR and Recruitment side of things! It has really flown by.’ – School Leaver
These types of internship programmes are incredibly valuable and help to develop the skillset and confidence of those starting out in their careers. We hope to be able to provide more future graduates and school leavers with similar opportunities in the future.
