A varied and stimulating senior legal role working across all areas of an award-winning bank, where you will be part of a supportive and friendly legal team looking after Jersey and Isle of Man with oversight to Mauritius.

As Legal Advisor you will manage, identify and mitigate legal risks providing technical legal advice and guidance to the business lines and enabling functions.

If you enjoy challenging ideas, providing direction and leading others and have experience of lending transactions, this could be the ideal role for you.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively analysing and reviewing amendments to legislation, regulations and case law to provide legal opinions to relevant internal stakeholders

  • Maintaining legal department documentation in line with company standards ensuring compliance with legislation and internal standards

  • Providing legal training to business units with the aim of creating awareness of legal risks and the controls to mitigate risks

  • Drafting and vetting legal documents across legal specialisations including confidentiality agreements, indemnities and waivers, notices and third-party service provider service level agreements

  • Managing litigation cases and assisting with the preparation for court hearings 

  • Mitigating legal risk by reviewing documentation and ensuring it is legally sound and complaint with relevant legislation 

Experience and skills required:

  • Extensive experience in a financial services department in a law firm

  • Exposure to drafting of legal documents or regulatory analysis and providing legal opinions

  • Ability to effectively develop and present the organisation's interests in matters of dispute

  • Insight into and understanding of the various laws and regulations regulating the financial services industry

  • Ability to advise on the development of policies and strategies on legislative matters through legislative analysis and interpretation
