| Q. | What is the 5 year rule? Can I still work in Jersey? |
| A. | The '5 year rule', more formally known as the Regulations of Undertakings was brought in to control the number of people working in Jersey. Each company is granted a number of licences to employ people with less than 5 years residency. This means that each vacancy is taken on 'merit' and the company decides whether they would want to utilise one of their licences or not. If you have been in the island less than five years this ruling makes it slightly more difficult to get a job but certainly not impossible. It depends on the vacancy, the company and the skills required and we would be happy to advise you as to the availability for the roles you are interested in. |
